EDUCATION AND PUBLIC PROGRAMME

Home is My Heart

Turkish artist Güneş Terkol was commissioned to create a new work following a month-long residency in London. Terkol worked with residents of Middlesex Street Estate, one of the two remaining housing estates in the City of London, to produce a large-scale banner through a series of sewing workshops. The banner displayed the residents’ hopes, dreams and their relationship with the neighbourhood layered onto a backdrop designed by Terkol.  Additionally, a permanent mural inspired by this banner has been made for Middlesex Street Estate’s external wall, unveiled on Art Night, and supported by a procession through the streets of the East End.

The mural was made in association with Aldgate Community Events, supported by the City of London Corporation. The banner was kindly hosted by The Cass, London Metropolitan University.

Kids Workshops

In 2016 and 2017, 10 workshop sessions were hosted for children aged 8-12 years old from London primary schools and the Royal London Hospital. The artist-led creative workshops are inspired by contemporary art and aim to ignite creativity and imagination while being adapted to the curriculum.
